community | season 2, episode 3; abed's story





Try to focus on the background of each image. That's where Abed's story lies.



Jeff: Oh, no, no. Just a physical. Even a Ferrari needs a tune-up.


It's amusing how Jeff can continue to be so self-centered even about the smallest of details. It's no wonder that he didn't notice Abed in the background at all. The story begins as Abed makes conversation with the pregnant girl before meeting up with the rest of the gang before their study session.




The trend continues as everyone else is caught up in their own agendas and doesn't realize the possible trouble their friend is getting in. It looks like the pregnant girl's boyfriend doesn't like Abed honing in on his girl. But just as it's starting to get physical, Abed is able to make a speedy getaway in the nick of time.




This might not even be totally relevant but I'm pretty sure that Abed is reading a baby book behind Troy. It's got blocks on the title and baby bottles on the border! Yup, that's a baby book all right! Thanks to [info]crazyqa215 for clearing that up here.




Jeff: Do you know how many times I haven't eaten a doughnut?
Duncan: I do not.
Jeff: How much I got teased in grade school for dabbing my pizza with napkins? I've suffered. I've denied myself. Because the rules say, if I did that I would live longer.


As Jeff and Duncan go on about Jeff's wake-up call to reality, the pregnant girl's water breaks. Abed and the boyfriend are seen walking her past Jeff and Duncan's table and out of the cafeteria. Jeff and Duncan remain unfazed despite the obvious scene it makes and the several onlookers around the cafeteria proper. Oh, how man can be so self-obsessed at times.




Even Shirley is caught up watching the oil fight between Britta and Annie to notice the miracle of life happening behind her. It's amazing how much faith some people can put on others in a time of crisis. Just a few days ago, the boyfriend wanted to hurt Abed. Now, he was actually getting him to deliver his girlfriend's baby.




Shirley: I haven't seen you all week, Abed. What have you been up to?
Abed: Not much.


Yup. Childbirth is so easy, I could do it with my eyes closed. Typical Abed behavior but we love him for it.

Thank you so much for doing this! I was only vaguely aware of what was happening in the background, so I'm happy someone did a picspam of Abed's storyline.

I was finally able to watch this morning, and I didn't see any of this! I did see Abed in the back of the van, but I had no idea WTF was going on.

I only noticed it around that time, too! I had to scrutinize background of the whole episode again to get the whole story.

I won't be surprised if they decide to keep it under wraps but I thought it was a great addition to the episode despite it's subtlety.

In the first scene he does a lot of pointing inbetween himself and her pregnant stomach...

And in the next scene the boyfriend is trying to fight him...

Thanks for this! Abed's storyline was the best part of the episode. It was like Where's Waldo? lol.

i noticed that there was a lady giving birth, but somehow missed the fact that it was ABED who was also helping her.

HUH. It just makes the whole thing more awesome.

On my second viewing I noticed him with the pregnant girl outside the study room and later on helping her give birth in the back of the car, but I totally missed all of the other stuff in between. Now I want to watch a third time to try to catch all of it!
